Fitting 3 car seats across the back seat - which seats fit?

I need to buy stage 2 car seats for my twins but need ones that fit on the end and middle of the back seat of our car (Honda Accord estate) along with an infant carrier, so that when I have another baby all three car seats fit.

Is this possible? If so which seats fit? Or will I have to buy a new car

Can you disable the front airbag? If you can then you can put the infant carrier in the front. You or DP could sit in the back if you;re both in the car.

is it a full size seat in the middle? With 3 point belt?

FiveGoMadInDorset · 11/11/2008 20:35

YOu are probably best going to Halfords/Mothercare, we will when we start thinking about No3

Neenztwinz · 11/11/2008 20:48

Been to Mothercare today - they were quite frankly crap. Said there were no seats that would fit.

Yes it has a 3-point belt in the middle.

Airbag can be disabled in the front but how would I/DH get in the middle of the back seat - climb over one of the car seats?

Cathy at the Essex In Car Road Safety Centre is a real expert, if she doesn't know, nobody will. You can call her on 01268 297593, no need to be living in Essex!

I'm not even in the country and she was more than happy to help me.

Wow - thanks for the number

try putting the infant carrier in the middle, thats the only way my 3 seats fit,
i have a maxi cosi cabrio with a britax hi-liner booster at each side.
its probably trial and error to see which seats fit.
good luck x

Thanks sazm, didn't think the maxi cosi cabrio would go in the middle. That is the infant carrier we have so maybe that is the solution. Must be a bit of a pain to get the seatbelt round it tho in the middle?

i haven't had the baby yet so havent had to strap all 3 in yet lol, however i have bought the easybase for the infant carrier to make life easier.
i will only need to have all 3 in the back if hubby is with me which isn't often as he works lots lol,the rest of the time bubby will be in the front with me as i dont have a passengers airbag.

I don't know if this is widely available in the UK, but the narrow one a lot of twin/triplet parents get is the Sunshine Kids Radian. It's also the only seat that folds up for air travel.
I need to sort out whether it will fit in the middle of our Corolla when #3 arrives...

Killwilly · 02/02/2009 19:49

we have got exactly the same situation - honda accord estate - but we need to fit a booster seat, a car seat and a infant carrier...

did you manage to squeeze them all in? any advise would be great....

Britax seats tend to be slim. I've got two freeways and an elite at the moment, but have read on here that an Eclipse in the middle usually allows a seat on each side because the seat unit is quite high.

I'm a childminder and have used various combinations over the years, but seats seem to be getting wider all the time.
