Cream material sofa.

Am i mad to consider a cream material sofa???

Have seen a georgous dark cream sofa in dfs it doesn't have machine washable covers but says covers can be removed for specialis cleaning - i thought in the day i could put throws on them - we don't eat in the lounge only drinks - oh have a nearly 3 yr old dd.

Am i mad to consider this?????

most definatly yes, we have a cream leather suite -OMG it was the biggest mistake and we don't even have kids yet - just two dogs (who are not allowed to jump up on the sofa), it's never clean always looks dirty, and in fact i'm going to see about getting some cloth covers for it in a dark colour. which can be taken on and off.

totally! our (dark brown) leather sofas in the living room have been the best thing we've ever bought....

Fairydust - I have cream material sofas with fully washable covers and thought I'd offer you some advice!!

I wash my covers at least every 3 months and I use huge throws on them. It's not food/drink spillages that coz the real problem as they can be wiped with carpet/upholstery cleaner, its the grime on the arms of the chairs that get on my nerves!

Just from peoples hands, sleeves, heads or whatever, touching the arms of the sofas. they get grey and dirty looking really quickly. So if you are gong for cream I'd get som washable arm covers made!

I would say you were mad. We have cream sofas but they're machine washable - which I think is a fair compromise. Wouldn't go for a specialist cleaning one - mine gets cleaned every 1-2 months depending on dirt!
