Group 1 Car seat to go in the front of a vehicle.

I drive a Vauxhall Combo van, so DS's car seat will have to go on the passenger seat in the front of the vehicle.

I read the thread about rear-facing seats, and while I want him to be as safe as possible, I think they would block visibility so much that it would be more dangerous iyswim.

Does anybody else have their stage 1 seat in the front of their vehicle? What make and model is it, what made you choose it and would you recommend it?

what weight/age is ds? Is there an airbag?

He's just reached the 20lb minimum, but he's very long and his legs are getting squashed up in his current Stage 0 seat.

No airbag.

he needs to stay rear facing until he actually outgrows the seat- which is when his head is poking out of the top. can you get a kicker toy for the vehicle seat so he's moving his legs and not getting bored?

He doesn't get bored (sleeps mainly), but his feet hang over the edge of the seat so when it's against the back of the passenger seat they get pushed up iyswim.

yep, that's normal. It's his head that's the important part. As long as his head is within the seat, it's the safest way for him to travel. If you are in an accident, his head will be supported during the first impact which will most likely draw his legs in towards his body, so his head is the bit to worry about more.

Thanks.

Any advice about good seats for when he does outgrow this one?

go for 1 that fits the van properly and make sure that it has deep side impact protection.
