Something that you can sit on to put your shoes on, that opens up and has storage inside the seat, that has a back to it that is flush against the wall, that is modern, not pine.

Anyone?

TIA

cotswold company? cant do links but i know they do this type of thing.
also, and this will sound daft but in the guardian mag a few weeks ago they had a seat like you described from focus diy place, it was a garden one but had been painted and had really nice cushion on it and looked lovely, so try there!

cupsoftea · 07/11/2008 21:20

Think Country living mag November issue had a feature on storage - will check in a few moments

mckenzie · 07/11/2008 21:22

oh thanks you. Off to check Focus DIY website now

These two, though neither is modern, tink you may struggle to find a modern hall bench

and

its in the garden furnitue bit i think, from what i remember it looks pretty ordinary on their website , but it did look nice if you can be bothered dressing it up a bit (cheaper than cotswold co too)

CoolYourJets · 07/11/2008 21:25

ikea?

MrsBadger · 07/11/2008 21:31

the Hemnes is the best you'll get I think

loads without backs

brimfull · 07/11/2008 21:35

you could sit on a nice box ????

Pannacotta · 07/11/2008 21:38

Oh yes the IKEA Hemnes one is perfect...

mckenzie · 07/11/2008 21:50

sorry but the Hemnes one isn't cos it's white! I should have said 'and not white' in my opening gambit shouldn't I? Sorry guys cos the White company one and the GLTC one are lovely but they too are white so no good.
Can't you guys all just close your eyes and picture my house and hallway - it would be a lot easier then .

Thank you for all of your ideas but so far, we haven't hit the mark. I can't find the FocusDIY one Nancy and I looked in indoor and outdoor living. The Habitat box is a bit too 'lumpy'.

Any more ideas please? I do plan on going to Ikea next week to see if I can see something that isn't on the website but I think perhaps I need to get myself into London and visit the big department stores. We'll know exactly what we're after when we see it. We have two gorgeous chairs in the study that DH had in his head and would not settle for anything less. The study had two big empty spaces for over two years while he found exactly what he was looking for. I do hope it doesn't take quite so long this time and I am confident that with the help of Mumsnet it will be sorted much quicker Please!

Looked in the CL nov mag - & can't find the article. Did read one about organizing and there was a picture of a cupboard for understairs storage - hopefully someone will know the article!

JackieNo · 07/11/2008 21:56

So if not white, what? Plain wood? Different colour?

JackieNo · 07/11/2008 22:06

Plain wood but not much of a back.

mckenzie · 07/11/2008 22:14

I just found one in brown leather seat with dark brown wood that would have worked except for the style of the seat was very old fashioned, even a bit church pew-ish. Off to look at your other link JackieNo - you usually find my things don't you or am i confusing you with someone else??
