It's magnetic (!)

Is made of solid pieces - like duplo but where duplo has wee round raised bits, this stuff has dots of magnets which are embedded into the plastic.

You build cars and houses and stuff like that with it... as you would duplo.

Nursery told me it was meccano but when io google meccano it's all vehicle construction kits with holey metal strips...

ohh, I had some of this in with some lego I brought from a car-boot, but only a handful of pieces - fab stuff.
Can't remember the name, although it was european I think - maybe german.

What age group?

Magnetix has rods and pannels and flat pannels which had magnets embedded into it.

I think there is a new one out too...I will try google.

DraculaNeedsArteries · 31/10/2008 20:08

this?

ja9 · 31/10/2008 20:10

no, not like magnetix - rods and balls and stuff.

looks more like duplo / leg. even has what looks like lego and duplo bases but like i said, instead of raised dots it has flat embedded magnetic dots.

no - it is exactly like lego, but flat magnets instead of raised bits.

Yurtgirl · 31/10/2008 20:11

I got dd1 some magnetic blocks when we were in the USA earlier this year, and they sound a bit like what you're describing.

we have cubes and pyramids, don't know if there's any other shapes, but they are like building blocks with a flat magnet embedded on each side...

will try to google them, hang on a mo

moshie · 31/10/2008 20:16
