Dualit toaster

Is there anyone else that doesn't get on with their Dualit toaster?

DH hates it as he can't get butter to spread on the toast (because the inside of the toast is too soft/ not really cooked?). I am not terribly enamoured either as you can't toast 1 or 3 pieces without fearing that you will be damaging it, I don't really like the lever system and some types of ordinary sliced bread seem to be too big for the slots. Obviously the cost of it makes it seem even worse.

Someone please come and explain why you like yours so much?!

Because it looks nice [shallow emotion]

Because I'm a control freak and I like to decide when to pop my own toast up.

If it's not cooked enough then cook it for longer [rocket science].

I toast anything between 1 and 6 slices - why on earth would doing 1 or 3 damage it?

I've not had a problem fitting pre-sliced bread in, but agree that morning goods (muffins, crumpets etc) are a problem. I prob should have got the one with the sandwich toasting slots to put stuff like this in.

I like the lever, meaning that I can check my toast at any point, and also like that I can control exactly how long things cook for.

agree with merlin it loooooks fab but ours did break down within 2 years (the timer bust!)

It has been repaired and I still love it.

If we cook it for longer, it is overdone/ burnt on the outside. Ours is a 4-slice and the instructions say that you must only toast 2 or 4 slices otherwise the element in the empty slot will be damaged.
