which brands of trainers fit wide feet (older boys size 2)?

Ds has wide little trotters and high insteps, and it's getting difficult to find trainers to fit, esp. as he hates the rigmarole of trying on loads of different pairs.

I know companies don't do trainers in width fittings (not even clarks, check out their website, school shoes up to G & H fittings, not sports shoes tho' ).
But I know some makes are wider in fit than others.

Does anyone here have experience to help me short-cut the search?

TIA

A shoe fitter friend of mine says german/scandanavian brands are wide and spnish/italien are narrow

we have found new balance to be fairly wide fitting.
