Ds has fallen in love with

this and i am thinking of getting it for christmas but i have just read the reviews and it doesn't seem that reliable.
Does your dc have one if so have you had any problems-apart from it driving you nuts!
Thankyou.

We got a blue one last year and we're reasonably pleased with it. No problems.

Oh, apart from the fact that the microphone bit DRIVES ME UTTERLY INSANE!

MorocconOil · 15/10/2008 19:29

We have it and the DC love it when it's got batteries. That's the problem. It guzzles batteries.

nobodysghoul · 15/10/2008 19:41

Thanks ladies.
Looks like i willbe getting rechargable batteries for this one and ear defenders!!!

My son had the version of it that was out 3 years ago and he loved it! It was fab. It did guzzle the batteries though, but hey thats what Poundlands for!

Hulababy · 15/10/2008 19:43

We had a smiliar one when DD was little, from ELC Was really sturdy on the whole, although the microphone stand did eventually break. Rest is still going strong, some 4 or so years later; we passed it on to friends.

oh that's good to hear, my DT's are getting it for their birthday!!

geraldinetheluckygoat · 15/10/2008 20:07

my ds1 got his for christmas last year, he sill plays with it, both my boys love it, as do mindees, so its a winner! I havent found it guzzles batteries at all, have only just replaced the first lot so wondering if mine just isnt played with as much as otherposters or if i got a freak bionic version!

Wheelybug · 15/10/2008 20:09

Dd's had hers for almost 2 years and its been cosntantly used and the batteries have only just run out. V. reliable to date.

Sawyer64 · 15/10/2008 20:23

My DD2 aged 2yrs has been bought the Little Tykes one from HERE

Seems sturdier than the ELC's own one,and the stool makes noises when she bumps up and down on it.

mynameis · 15/10/2008 20:27

My ds got the blue one last christmas, Hasn't guzzled the batteries even though it seems to be constantly on. Microphone has broken though which was a bit of a blessing really

BexieID · 15/10/2008 23:14

What about the one in Argos here.

Reallytired · 15/10/2008 23:18

My son has has his for three years. It has been a bit unreliable, but my fil has always managed to repair it.

I don't think the elc keyboard was intended for industial use lol...

We got ours in the january sales for half the price though.

Plonker · 15/10/2008 23:35

My dd2 got a pink one last year for Xmas - its still doing strong despite very very very heavy usage

Only paid about £20 for it too

toomuchmonthatendofthemoney · 15/10/2008 23:41

ds got the blue elc one for christmas last year and the microphone only lasted about a month, ie until the first time there were more than 2 kids in the room. Not that it got smashed or anything, but it must have got bumped and just stopped working at all.

However ds still uses the keyboard part quite a lot. He likes to drag it through the hall and serenade me while i'm in the shower in the morning. very relaxing (not).

gigglewitch · 16/10/2008 00:03

ds2 got one for his 3rd birthday - 2 yrs on he still loves it. Mic has started intermittently working recently. (errr, that is ummm so sad) the keyboard still goes strong [aka loud]
Recommend it, hours of fun.

mysonsmummy · 16/10/2008 00:37

ds had the blue one for about four years - never changed batteries once.

RubberDuck · 16/10/2008 08:07

toomuch: ooo can you work out how the microphone stopped working? Trust me, the microphone breaking after a month is a GOOD thing

toomuchmonthatendofthemoney · 16/10/2008 22:41

rubberduck, yeah i didn't really miss the squalling sat on goose effect much.

no idea what happened, there were 2 little visitors, they went to play in the room, heard the keyboard going, mic full blast, bump, squawk, dead. (the mic that is, not the little chums )

RubberDuck · 17/10/2008 08:15

Hmm, so there's hope for our microphone yet. Must get lots of the dses friends around...
