Not exciting, but I need a new kettle...

after the last gas bill, I am no longer using the wonderful 1930s stove top kettle I have ... and my electric kettle is looking old and knackered... any ideas? something eco friendly for preference.

There's a funky thing that they have in our local electrical shop which is kind of a square box that flash heats one mug of water as you need it & is supposed to be much more efficient. The bloke who runs the shop is pretty eco-aware & says its good. (I think its a tefal quick cup . . .)

I would have thought a normal electric kettle would be more expensive than using the gas? (after all they are burning gas at the power station to turn into leccy for you to turn back into heat, surely more efficient to heat the kettle directly with the gas . . .)

Tefal one does not make a cup of tea....DO NOT BUY ! You get hot water, not boiling, is rubbish.

lulumama · 13/10/2008 07:51

ok, thank you for that. good to know before i spend £48 on it !
