Warning! - breaking cot bed danger

Just wanted to warn all mums -
this cot bed from Mothercare, just BROKE this morning - the slats came away from the frame on the side that you raise and lower.

My 8 mth old DD slipped onto the floor thru the gap. The exposed wood barely missed scratching her. Luckily her nursery is carpeted + we had a kids rug there, so she wasn't (visibly) hurt. It was awful to hear her shocked crying and run in to find her like that. Taking her to GP.

We got the cot from relatives who had 2 of their babies in succession sleep in it. Still, its not that old. To think my cot, 30-odd years old, is still in circulation...

Thanks for posting this warning - I had a highchair from Mothercare that my DD managed to get her leg stuck down the side of because of badly spaced slats! I complained to them and got a bog standard 'thanks for letting us know' response but they weren't bothered in the slightest.

Yep cheap tat from China I'm afraid. I ended up going to Ikea and getting one of those £11.99 ones - no problems since!
