Nintendo DS - or lite?

HIya, am finally caving in for my 7 yr old's birthday and thinking of buying a DS. It's either that or his dad will buy one at his house, and I'm always the 'straight' one! Is it really worth my while spending the extra cash on the DS lite, or could I pick up an older DS which I know is a bit more bulky second hand for less money without losing much on the fun front for my son?
Any advice?

splash out on ds lite really worth the stretch if you can. You can buy second hand if you prefer with a 1yr gtee from the GAME store

You should be able to get a second hand DS lite, and it's worth the extra. The new DS lite coming next year not worth it as doesn't play the game boy advance cartridges.
