I need a carseat recommendation for a tall 3 year old

My Dd2 just turned 3 and she won't fit her current carseat for much longer. She is in a Concorde Ultimax which has been great.

I want her to be in a seat with a 5 point harness until she is 4 years old. What seats are good for tall children. She's 98cm tall.

Bump

Does anyone have a Britax Evolva and know what height child it will take with the 5 point harness?

HI no idea - I have a tall 3 yr old dd too and we gave up and used a next stage seat (which she's fine in) I'm sure someone will be along who knows though. x

I don't know about the evolva, but the srtaps on the britax elite are suitable to age 6, so definately high enough for a tall 3 year old

CarGirl · 07/10/2008 17:37

The evolva 5 point belt goes by weight, have you looked at the briac website? WE've got he britax renaissance and that was one of the tallest back heights I could find.

woodenchair · 07/10/2008 19:50

Horsestories I've have just had to take the harness off my evolva 123.

I bought it last month for the same reasons you did, I didn't feel ds (read I) was ready to be without the 5 point harness, as he was only 3 last month.

However he's really tall (90th centile) and I found the head rest did not go high enough with the 5 point harness on when he was in the seat with his winter coat on.

So today I took off the harness and am now using it with the normal seatbelt.

The Evolva harness does up to 18kgs and then you have to remove it and use the adult belt

HorseStories · 08/10/2008 07:49

She's not close to exceeding the 18kg weight limit and I am not sure she would even meet the minimum weight requirement for a booster seat. She's just tall, and especially long in her body.

Woodenchair - how tall is your son?

He is exactly 100cm.

sazm · 08/10/2008 17:52

we have an evolva ultra and my son who is 4(and 100cm) still has a couple of inches above his shoulders on the harness.

HorseStories · 09/10/2008 08:00

Could I be cheeky and ask someone to measure the distance from the seat base to the top strap position? My daughter has a long body. I'll measure my current carseat and see how the two compare.

Or I could go to a shop and have her sit in it!

42cm on the elite, straps suitable for up to 25kgs

HorseStories · 10/10/2008 07:44

Thanks. I did not realise the Elite was designed to go up to a larger size and weight. I am definitely going to consider that.

Ds is very tall for age (at age 3 he was in age 5 clothing), I put him in a seat from mamas and papas very similar to the link I have added. I put him in it from age 3. It has an adjustable head rest.

HorseStories · 10/10/2008 16:19

Thank you. We have a Mamas and Papas shop locally so I could go and look at that one. It does look more snug and supportive than other high back boosters out there.

We have a Britax Evolva 123 and I don't like it at all and have been in 2 minds whether to get rid of it.
Definately wouldn't recommend the one we have.
