Tell me about Polly Pocket!

I've just collected a bag of Polly Pocket bits from freecycle and my god, arn't they tiny!

What are the little magnets for on various dolls and other bits? I can't seem to figure it out?! Should there be some sort of base unit that they attach to?

I had planned on putting some into dd1's stocking at Christmas, but it's that small, ds will swallow a whole playset!

How old is your dd?

I was thinking about getting some polly pocket from ebay for xmas next year - my dd will be 5 1/2 by then

DD loves it, don't have much but she wil sit fir at least an hour changing clothes making up stories etc. The shoes are a nightmare though, very easy to hoover up
DD is 3.9 BTW and DS 2.5 seems ok with the bits

She'll be 5.7 at Christmas. DS will be 18 month and at the moment eats everything he can shove in his mouth, whether it's food or not! I'm sure he'll grow out of it though!

Just realised that I have spent sat night sorting it all out and have even dressed some of the dolls in matching outfits - must get out more

Be careful with teh magnetic bits. They are to hold the clothese on. There are magnets in teh dolls and magnets in the clothes.

There was a recall about 12m ago on teh magnetic polly pockets. They have changed the design.

Check the Mattel website for details.

I think that if the magnets are exposed (i.e. you can see the metal) they were part of the recall. If the magnets are enclosed they are the safer redesigned version.

Then of course there are the polly pockets which just hae little rubber clothes.

Thanks for the recall advice! I'll have a proper look through them tomorrow - not all have them. Looking at the Mattel website though, it seems loads were recalled.

Yeah it was a huge thing at the time.

the risks were related to teh swallowing of the magnets - so with your 1m old deffo be careful!
