Thinking of getting one of these for ds (18months) for christmas - can anyone recommend them or are they a waste of money?

I have one for my dd. She is 17mths old and got it for her birthday but she doesnt really get it iykwim. She loves the book on their own I guess she is still a little young for it really although it does say from6mths she is ok for a max of 5 mins but only if its me that presses it for the noises etc. hth
