Sylvanian families - what to get for a 5 year old?

We have no sylvanian family stuff and I fancy getting her some for her birthday with the intention of adding to it at christmas etc.
Should I invest in teh grand hotel or start smaller and go for the boat or go middway and get willow hall? Not so sure about willow halla s she already has the playmobil carry along house which looks about the same house.

Any advice welcome.

Or do I go for something else completely??

oh well in that case helllooooo

Don't know if you're interested but I had exactly the same idea for DD last Christmas, so I searched ebay for something (man they don't half hold their value) .. but worth looking there if you're not that bothered on new stuff

To be honest I bought her a used Grand Hotel (not in perfect condition but good enough) with loads of furniture and some slightly faded animals and then got sister to buy her a pack of a new family .. She's played with it about twice and it takes up a lot of space so when I get round to it I'm going to re-ebay it

Interesting, thanks. I was going to get from ebay (you're so right about holding their value) but did read on mumsnet that it's not always worth it as by the time you've cleaned the damn little things you'd wished you'd bought new. However I might reconsider. I've also asked my sister to get her a new family.

people clean them

hercules1 · 30/09/2008 07:13

It was on mumsnet so it must be true!

maybe that's where I'm going wrong

that or the fact that DD is actually a boy really

We've got the Mill on the Hill which is good cos you can have more than one family living in it but you need to add furniture. Tempted by the new treehouse too !

Will look up mill on the hill. What about just getting the toysrus one that's 50£??
