balance bikes - where can I find a very small one?

Any ideas where I can find a very small balance bike suitable from age 2 - or if possible even a bit less than that - for ds2?

Have found the Like-a-Bike mini which goes down to a saddle height of 27cm. But would rather like to find a slightly cheaper alternative!

Puky LRM goes down to 29cm and is a bit more in the right price range.

dh would like the Islabikes Rothan (ds1 had an Islabikes bike which was fab) - but not sure how small that would adjust to. Anbody used one with a very young child?

Hi Lunarsea! With ds we just bought a normal bike and took the pedals off, could that be an option? Then when he was OK with it all, the pedals went back on and off he went.

ps - can't believe he's 2

Puky are great. They do tiny bikes - I think their age suggestion is 18months for the smallest one. Totally fab. DS just turned 3 and is really ready for pedals

Furball - he's not (18 months next week) - but he's desperate to join in and copy big brother. He loves being pushed around on a small bike but his legs aren't quite long enough to pedal it yet, let alone push it along with no pedals. Won't be long though, ds1 could pedal a bike at 20 months (which we only discovered when he climbed on another child's bike and pedalled off on it!).

dh just fancies getting him a little trainer bike for Christmas if we can find one small enough, or failing that for his birthday. If nothing else it solves the problem of what to get when he's already got everything he inherited from ds1.

Lunar, we bought DS1 his Puky for his second birthday. It was the middle size balance bike with the single break as it seemed the best value and would last longest. We tried him on it before we bought it and he's still riding around on it now at nearly 3.

He loves it and I'm sure DS2 will enjoy it too!

The Rothan adjusts right down. It was small enough for my DD at 2 and could probably have been adjusted down a little further. 18 months might be a stretch, but if it's not quite small enough, he'll soon grow into it.

We've just ordered this one for dd - she will be 19 months here

LunarSea · 30/09/2008 14:51

He'll be nearly 21 months by Christmas - and the one TillyScoutsmum linked to says from 20 months with a saddle height of 30cm. That's the same as the Rothan, so knowing dh we'll probably end up going with that as we've had good experiences with Islabikes before.

Oh if it's any use to anyone else looking for these, I found another small one (28cm) here.
