My son wants an mp3 player for xmas, I have heard of them, but...........

He said they store music, but how exactly do you get the music onto the mp3 player, I imagine you download from the internet but are there special sites etc etc.

He is not very patient at explaining things and thinks everyone should know everything there is to know on the pc.

Yes, you can download from sites like itunes. Some music is free to down load, other places charge. You can also put CDs you already own onto the mp3 player as well, via the computer.

If you buy an ipod then you can only download from itunes(something very confusing to do with an ipod actually being an MP4 player or other such techie garb!). Other MP3 players can download from other cheaper sites. However, ipods are infinitely better imo.

imo - it is easier to use itunes with an ipod - you can get an ipod shuffle for about £30, they hold about 250 tunes.
