Get a Bosch.

What's your budget?

Cadelaide · 25/09/2008 12:57

i have an excellent zanussi, our second.

i'd recommend a big capacity and the fastest spin you can get.

bea · 25/09/2008 13:09

£300 ish...

want one with an lcd screen (to tell me how much longer i've got! and child lock!...) but not absolutely necessary.... i think the old one is completely dead and dc2 is in the middle of trying to stay dry at night!!!!!

The Bosch WAE24467 looks OK for you - 7kg load & about £340 (am checking which website ) - poss not child lock though. It's v similar to mine, but bigger, & I'm v pleased with mine.

Co-op has it for £344 delivered.

If you have time you could go to one of those huge appliance stores like Currys & look at all theirs for the features you want, then find the cheapest you can on the internet!

bea · 25/09/2008 14:31

thanks wendyweber... i think i'm going for this...
www.comet.co.uk/shopcomet/product/410578/BOSCH-WAE24363GB?cm_ven=Pricerunner&cm_cat=Feed&cm_pla=Wash ingMachines&cmite=410578BOSCHWAE24363GB

6kg load... that's okay isn't it?... and i take it that all washing machines are standard width.... i.e. will it slot into the hole that the old one will now leave....

Miele
very quiet
hand wash cycle which works with anything
10 year guarantee parts and labour

Word · 25/09/2008 14:41

I love my new Bosch! Very quiet compared to my Zanussi.

WendyWeber · 25/09/2008 15:30

Well find us a Miele under £300, CD, & we're away!

bea, in fact I think that Comet one is the same as mine - not the one I linked to before (that has a bigger LED display) - I got mine from Comet too, they delivered it pretty fast & it's been brilliant.

WendyWeber · 25/09/2008 15:32

Oh & yes, they are all basically 60x60 (some are 59.5 but all the normal sized ones will fit in the standard slot.

fishie · 25/09/2008 15:32

i got a john lewis one a coupel of months ago. seems fine, much quieter than previous hotpoint. £270. don't pay them to take your old one away, they couldn't fit it on and 10 mins after they'd gone somebody knocked on door and took it for scrap.

stleger · 25/09/2008 15:46

If you need a narrow one to get through a narrow door (like me, thanks builders) Bosch is less 'deep' than others but same width.
