what age for a DS?

dd aged 8 and ds1 aged 7 would both like one but im not convinced age wise!how old do other people think of DS's being suitable from?

my dd got hers when she was 7 but she seemed the last of her friends to get one! She;s now 10 and hardly plays on it. DS aged 6 has played on it for the last year (despite the fact that its pink!!)

yes all they're friends already have one(plus all the other 'col' computer game things such as wii,playstation etc.i am a bad mother).dd has played her friends,i'm just unsure if its suitable.but looking at most games they say from 3
