I am thinking about buying DH a Wii for his birthday, that we can all then play with . Is there anywhere that has them for less than 180 quid? Also I will get an extra remote but is there anything else that I should get straight away? TIA

I got a great deal at Game, they had good offers ith extra games etc if you want them. DH loves it, or you could try PLAY.com

VanillaPumpkin · 22/09/2008 15:05

I don't think you will find it for less than £179, but I got two games worth £35 each for an extra £10 and free delivery with Game. HTH

Thanks, I have just had a look on those sites. I am a little confused about game.co.uk. They have the Wii with Wii sports OR the Wii with Wii sports and Mario Kart and Wii wheel - both for 179.99; why would you not go for the second deal?

Oh and also, do I need a memory card as well?

Yes, of course you should go for the deal . I know what you mean. There must be some muppets out there.
The basic Wii comes with Wii sports as standard.

I should say I am no expert and cannot tell you about a memory card (but I don't think you need it). Our Wii is still in its box in the wardrobe waiting for Christmas . The only extra I am getting is Wii Play which has some other little games and the important extra controller for £35.

Thanks VP, all very helpful! I do remember needing a memory card when we bought a ps2 years ago as otherwise you couldn't save games, which is quite important if you are playing a game with different levels.

Does anyone know about the memory card for the Wii?

Ooh, thanks Mutt, that looks very useful. All getting very expensive now though!

if you're buying a wii and games add in the cost of

an AA battery charger and at least 4 rechargeable batteries

an extra wii remote and nunchuck

you need these

(you may need steering wheel, wii fit board, other games)

can recommend Super Mario Bros and Lego Star Wars as fab games and I love the wii fit

Wii play is quite fun too .. and gets you used to the remotes .. yes you get nunchuk as well as the remote with it

Twiglett · 22/09/2008 17:50

I'd get a good battery recharger though for about £20 .. you want a fast recharge really

oh ok

AbbaFan · 22/09/2008 18:48

I spotted that Woolworths were selling them for £159.00 recently.

GreatGooglyMoogly · 22/09/2008 20:14

Hmm, terrible reviews for those docking stations sadly.

OP posts:
GreatGooglyMoogly · 22/09/2008 20:29

Thanks AbbaFan, I can only find them for 179.99 on their website unfortunately.

TequilaMockinBird · 22/09/2008 20:33

If you're going to buy an extra remote, buy wii play.

It's roughly the same cost as a remote on its own but you get the 'play' game with it aswell!

WendyWeber · 22/09/2008 20:37

They do eat batteries I've discovered

GreatGooglyMoogly · 22/09/2008 22:03

Where would I find rechargeable AA batteries and a battery recharger?

OP posts:
WendyWeber · 22/09/2008 22:28

amazon, play, places like that, GGM. I think I got my camera ones from amazon. I will have a quick look for you, hang on...

WendyWeber · 22/09/2008 22:37

Well that was frustrating, all the chargers seem to come with AA batteries & the Wii uses AAA (they do charge AAA ones, but what will you do with the AAs???)

Will look further!
