hi dont think u can get them in uk, someone had a new one for sale on the rearfacing.co.uk fourm hope that helps

rowrowrowyourboat · 22/09/2008 22:19

As far as I know they aren't available in the uk but you can order them from Sweden, there are links on rearfacing.co.uk it costs about £300 I think someone said.

If you don't want to order from abroad then there are now a couple of rearfacing seat available in the UK such as the recaro polaric (sp), the Britax nordic and the Brio Zento.

DeJaVous · 23/09/2008 10:22

I'm looking for one too so will be watching with interest.

DeJaVous · 23/09/2008 11:48

THe shop in the link on rearfacing.co.uk say they are out of stock and wont be able to get any until November I've emailed another Swedish supplier and if they'll ship internationally I'll let you know.

It is such a PIA that these safe seats are hard to get hold of.

Copied from another thread:

Also, if you contact Cathy at the Essex In Car Road Safety Centre on +44 1268 297593, she probably be able to give you information on the fitting of both FF and RF Group 1 seats in your car - she spends all her time fitting seats into various makes & models, and advising people on car seats. (It is a free service run by Essex County Council, not linked to any retailer, and therefore impartial). She is passionate about car safety and will be able to give you some ideas of what might suit your vehicle.

DeJaVous · 23/09/2008 13:26

Ok, just got this email:

Dear DeJaVous,

We sell car seat and ships them world wide! Unfortunaly Mobi aint in stock at the moment, they are delayed from production and will arrrive within 4-6 seeks I hope. We also sell BeSafe iZiKid and Brio Zento, two very good car seats. iZiKid is probably the best car seat on the market and has (just like Mobi) a little handle so you can tip the seat while you are driving if your daughter will fall asleep. If you would like, I will put you on my waiting-list and call you as soon as Maxi Cosi Mobi arrive to my store?

Best regards, Maria

Are any of these rear facing seats suitable for cars without Isofix?

DeJaVous · 25/09/2008 19:06

Yup, I'm not in the UK so I'm not up to speed about what's available there. The best thing you can do is to phone Cathy at the Essex In Car Road Safety Centre on 01268 297593. She really knows her stuff.

HeinzSight · 25/09/2008 20:19

YEs, I've just (today) bought a rear facing Britax car seat, without isofix. It's called Eclipse something or other. I bought it from the incarsafetycentre in Milton Keynes.

Agree with DeJaVous about phoning Kathy in Essex, I spoke to her yesterday, she's very good.

I bought a Maxi Cosi Mobi from Toddler.se but unfortunately it doesn't fit well in my car. If anyone is after a Mobi, I am selling it, it hasn't been used and Maria from Toddler.se knows all about it (they wouldn't exchange or refund)

I have also been to see Cathy in Essex & she can verify as well.

If you are interested or know anyone that might want to buy the seat from me, please let me know as I am desperate to sell (I need to buy one that does fit!)

I called Dorel in the UK that are the manufacturers of Maxi cosi, and although they gave me names of local(ish) suppliers to me none of them seem to actually sell the MOBI! I spoke to the lady at incarsafety one of the listings from Dorel and they don't know when they are going to get a supply of that particular seat. Dorel were quite unhelpful really saying they don't supply to the UK market as there isn't demand. Surely if they actually gave parents the choice to consider they might find a greater demand than they think! If we didn't have to go to great lengths to get hold of this seat people might actually buy it instead of the TOBI!

Paul Stride in York have the Mobi in stock - or at least they did 3 weeks or so ago. I wanted one for my DD but didn't think it would fit in my small car after asking about.
