OK I need to buy a present for a quite bright 8 year old boy...any of these any good?

They look quite good...but what about 2 or 3 Tintin books? Can't beat them in my opinion and perfect age for them?

My 8 yr old had something similar - we made lovely green 'snot' complete with an artificial nose bleeurgh plus he was given a rudimentary eletrical circuit/light bulb combo kit.

Yeah I like reading so to me books are a good idea but I dont know if he does or what he likes.

I think science is a good bet for him, he is very mathmatical and it will support their school work in a fun way.

Just...hmmmm....which one? Not good at decisions
