Hi, I've just subscribed to Which for the months trial for the same reason as I needed to replace all of my children's seats. The safest seats at the moment in this group are

  1. Britax Evolva 2-3 isofit
  2. Maxi cosi priorifit
  3. Maxi Cosi rodi XR
  4. Britax evolva 2-3 ultra.
Mothercare have the Maxi cosi rodi xr for sale online and in stores with £30 off at the moment - Have just ordered 3! It shows on the Which site a crash dummy test using the worst seat - Little Shield Combi 1 2 3 - makes harrowing viewing.

Glad to have helped.

Ooh er! Sometime's the internet can give people too much information! We have the maxi cosi, so at least I can sleep tonight!

jelliebelly · 18/09/2008 15:24

Does anybody who has a maxi cosi rodi XR know the difference between the different models here is it just the colour? - only one of them has 30% off and don't want to order the wrong one!

overtherainbow · 18/09/2008 16:58

Yes it's just the colour.

jelliebelly · 18/09/2008 20:13

thanks otr

ilovetochat · 18/09/2008 20:19

did the report also say which were the safest for 9 months plus?

overtherainbow · 18/09/2008 21:51

For the 9 - 18kg group the which safest seats at the moment are :

  1. Maxi Cosi priorifit
  2. Britax explorer isofit
  3. Chicco key1 isofit
  4. Britax duoplus isofit
fymandbean · 18/09/2008 21:54

I was thinking of getting the Britax Evolva 1-2-3 (as opposed to the 2-3) for my DS do you know where it came in the lists??

overtherainbow · 18/09/2008 22:02

They have only tested 48 seats and it doesn't appear that the Britax Evolva 1 2 3 was one of them.

ilovetochat · 18/09/2008 22:15

thanks OTR

fymandbean · 19/09/2008 20:32

thanks OTR for looking - I'm going to hope the 1-2-3 is good as the 2-3 does get top reviews....

hi does anyone know what car seat WHICH recomend as the safest for the 9 months plus group that is not isofix?

Thanks

Bubbaloo · 15/10/2008 21:05

I have a Britax Evolva 1-2-3 and absolutely hate it.Definately the worst seat I've ever bought and have seriously thought about changing it.Sorry!

naomi83 · 16/10/2008 12:28

We have the Britax 123 and we think its fab! it's much cheaper than buying a maxi cosi and then a boster seat, it's really confortable, easy to fit, and my son sleeps well in it, although if your baby always falls alseep in the car you might want a maxi cosi, as you can recline then whilst driving. The big push for us towards the 123 is that our son is a big boy and tall, and would have grown out of the maxi cosi before he turned 3.

Bubbaloo · 16/10/2008 13:03

I think perhaps the Evolva may be better once you're not longer using the 5 point harness.
Ds1 is 3.4 and isn't quite heavy enough to change it over to just the belt yet,so he finds the seat very uncomfortable and he can barely get the harness around his shoulders because the supports at the top stick out so much due to the way they've designed it.I also found it incredibly difficult to fit and ended up taking it to Halfords for them to do.
Before buying it,we liked the idea that the seat would last alot longer than most and we were going to buy the same one for dh's car,but after buying it we soon changed our mind and bought a Britax duo plus isofix instead.A friend of mins also has the Evolva and isn't happy with it for the same reasons.
Obviously once our boys are out of the harness,we may be saying the opposite.
