Has anyone got one that they recommend? Preferably quiet, not too heavy, cordless, quick boil and decent capacity!

The only stainless steel kettle i had made such a huge racket i had to replace it in the end coz it was just toooo noisy!

Oh dear! I have seen quiet ones but they are usually really heavy - it seems to be a trade-off.

I got mine from Tescos for £20. It's a classic kettle shape rather than jug, doesn't seem too noisy, haven't noticed it being heavy but it's not light IYSWIM!

Typically, it's not on their website It was a Tesco own brand though.

I went for brushed steel as doesn't need as much polishing

RGPargy · 08/09/2008 16:46

Brushed steel is worse than stainless, i reckon!! If it gets dirty or finger prints on it, it's ten times harder to remove them completely than it is with stainless steel. I used to have a brushed steel bin and after that, i have vowed never to buy anything other than stainless again!

I am with RGPargy - I definitely want stainless steel.

Thanks Soupy, I'll have a look next time I'm in Tesco
