i have a phil and teds buggy bought from mothercare 4 months ago, i received a parcel today from mothercare with two plastic parts in and the following info(which is on p and t website):
The following products have required such action.

e3, sport v1 - folding mechanism cover to secure buggy in folded position

We strongly recommend you obtain and fit our Hinge Covers.
Some e3/sportv1 inline® buggy users are not using the folded frame-lock straps. In such cases, the buggy may unexpectedly unfold, causing the front part to flip forward. If this happens and the person also has their hand in the main hinge (in spite of the sticker on the frame warning against this), injury can result.

The hinge covers reduce the risk of injury when folding or unfolding your sport v1 or e3 buggy.

mothercare sent me these parts as they had my details but if you go to the p and t website you can request a pair just scroll down

out of interest does anyone else not use strap clips when folding buggy, we dont as its too stiff the strap seems too short? appears we arent alone

How long do they take to arrive? I ordered mine via the link ages ago and haven't got them yet.

ann1984 · 31/10/2008 20:32

if you call outnabout on - 01234344230211, they send them straight out. I called at 2pm on monday and they arrived on tuesday...they also sent me some mudgaurds as they were only put on the later models so if you have one without them you are allowed them for free...just call up and ask!!

Ive put my covers straight on, it was so easy and took literally seconds...never had a problem before using them though.

EldonAve · 15/05/2009 20:27

I was going to ask about that too

Mine doesn't have any closing strap

Anyone got a pic?

EddiesMummy · 16/05/2009 08:27

Snap to the above - I can't tell whether I should be worried about this. We bought our P&T in Dec last year.

AnnasBananas · 17/05/2009 21:45

The closing strap looks like a short piece of black webbing (3-4cms long) with an eyelet in the end. There is one on each side of the pushchair. One is very slightly longer than the other, so you need to use the longer one to secure the pushchair when folded, you only need to use this one. The (slightly) shorter one is used to secure the folded pram when the front wheel has been removed. The eyelet goes over the metal 'prong' and you do have to pull/stretch it slightly to get it over. This is detailed in the instruction booklet.

Sorry you all you MNers who have been injured, that's awful. I had a knack for opening and closing where I used my thumbs/palms and 'flexed' all my fingers up and out of the way of the hinges.

EddiesMummy · 18/05/2009 13:47

Thanks annasbananas but I can't see anything like that on my P&T. I do have some buckle clip type things down each side however they don't seem long enough to click together. I think I will just give up trying to figure it out. So far nothing has gone wrong and having checked, our P&T does already have the hinge protectors.

If you click on this link it will take you to a pic of a green P&T Sport. You can see the closing strap as a short black strap with a hole in the end on the left hand side of the frame (as you are looking at the pic) just up from the bumper bar.

FanjolinaJolie · 19/05/2009 11:34

Whoops, here's the link

www.philandteds.com/sport_index.htm

Even more empty head,

Once you've copied the link into your browser then click the 'hover' icon on the right hand column, that takes you to the pic of the zoomed in green Sport.
