my dd2 tries to sleep hugging a sheepskin rug and i must replace it....

You don't mention a price range, but if you are looking for a fantastically soft blanket you could try a baby pashmina. My baby has a number of these and he loves them. I also bought 100% cashmere blankets, but the silk in the pashmina makes it lighter and softer.
