people in the US - how easy is it to find size 3 shoes there?

I need a new pair of comfy Ecco-type shoes and as we are going to the US next week thought I would look for some there but as it is sometimes difficult to find size 3s here I wondered what the situation was over there.

I think Americans have the same size of feet as us

Width fittings (narrow) are harder to find cheaply, but lengths not a problem.

thanks squeakypop and califrau will measure feet. We will be in NY. I thought it might be difficult as some places here in the UK don't really stock them. I also thought that Americans were on average taller so that might be a factor.
