Doing a bit of research for bro who lives in New York re: car seats . . .

. . . they don't have a car, but use taxi's sometimes / travel quite a lot, so would like a car seat which lasts longer than 12 months (so stage 0 to stage 2 is it?).

Which is the best in terms of being light enough to lug around if needed, but fairly easy to fit safely?

the maxi cosi is the best infant one, although graco are decent too, and then he wants this one, from 1-12 years

Car seats in the US are different than here, he'd be better off going to Target/Babies R Us/Costco and checking them out for himself. It's so hard to know if you're going to be able to carry something around until you see it in the flesh.
