It's a terrible idea. And not just for the technical reasons. Try to think of somewhere else it can go. Please.

tellys are supposed to be at eyelevel

you will get a crick in your neck watching a telly high above a fireplace

im not joking! my friend has one and if i watch a film at hers my neck aches all the next day

also, if your fire is a working one itll melt the surround of the telly

bad idea if you ask me

why m whats your experience , it would just free up so much floor space and save the tv from grubby little hands - nearly had it pushed over recently.

it took my dh a week to dig out the trenches for the wires for our telly - and to fill them in again, smooth them off and paint

It is not recommended to put flat screen TV's above fire places as the heat can damage the screen.

Moomin · 25/07/2008 09:59

I just think it looks crap.

But also agree about eye-level stuff. We have a flat screen and it takes up a lot less room than the old TV but is just in a corner and it's fine.

It will become the focal point of your room, rather than your fireplace or etc.

It will look naff.

It will give you neckache.

That's it. Ta.

no don't do it. everyone will think the tv is the focus of your whole lives.
is common.
