in-car MP3 players: any advice?

I got a new iPod for my birthday

dh bougth a new stereo and got them to fit a connection lead for the iPod that comes out in the glovebox, so you plug the Pod in then navigate the menus through the car stereo display bit

no idea on th ephone though

um, it was actually one of those terrible little shops you see on suburban parades that specialise in go-faster stripes / tinted windows / fitting huge subwoofers in your boot

he bought the stereo somewhere mainstream (argos?) and just got them to do the tricky bit.

Why did he have to buy a new one then? We've already got a car stereo. (I'm sure you did too.) There must be something the new stereo does that the old one didn't? A different input socket?

Mmm, maybe I should phone one of those shops you describe - if it's just a q of fitting a lead it could turn out much more cheaply than I'd thought and I can spend the rest of my birthday money on emulsified fats books.

this was when he'd just bought the car - it only had a knackered old tape deck so he bought a new stereo with a cd player and the right input socket.

(I think it was an Aux port ie line in it needed but it'd be best to check)
