Are memory foam mattresses ok for small children?

DD is moving into a big bed and I wondered whether memory is suitable for children or not? I've googled it but can't seem to find anything.

i wouldn't cos if they wet the bed it would be ruined

Well I'd have a mattress protector on, but I don't see why it'd be any different from any other mattress getting wee'd on?
