Which recommendations for Fridge-Freezer anyone?

A list of best buys/brads would be very very helpful indeed! Thanks!

Our Zanussi has just got another problem and we've just spent £70 on repairing something, the temp is failing in the fridge argggh. I did buy it on Which recommendation last time, but I still have unflagging faith in Which. I know Bosch generally a good brand but not sure if we can afford it.

Not Bosch. My just over 2 year old one needs replacing. The seal has broken, the salad drawers have broken, the bottom shelf on the fridge door has broken. It is made from flimsy plastic. I have to clear out ice and water from the bottom twice a day.

Fed up with it.

Try a review website like www.reevoo.co.uk. They have customer reviews and marks for items which can help.

Where's that? I had no idea there was an JL outlet just outside Swindon - would be perfect

blowsy · 16/07/2008 21:16

I have a Maytag Amrican side by side stylee and love it.

accessorizequeen · 17/07/2008 20:01

lapin, the site you linked to was v.helpful, thank you. Clearly shouldn't have bought a Zanussi in the first place! Mostly german brands get the thumbs up, Bosch, Miele, Liebherr so all bloomin' expensive. I went round comet etc but got nowhere and too tired (I'm 29 wks pg with twins), must go kelkoo it and order something. God knows what we'll do in the meantime.

EachPeachPearMum · 18/07/2008 10:18

If it hellps, the JL own brand fridges are made by a german company... I think its aeg

zippitippitoes · 18/07/2008 10:20

which is part of electrolux i believe or vice versa

EachPeachPearMum · 18/07/2008 12:13

umm- are electrolux any good?

Sidge · 18/07/2008 12:18

We've got a Samsung American-style jobbie and it's fab. Had it 3 years and no problems at all.

accessorizequeen · 18/07/2008 14:12

I think we would really like a side by side american style once we have four bigger children (eeek, 3 teenage boys!) but can't fit one in the kitchen now and poss. not even when we extend. DP & I spent ALL of last evening looking online to find something like the zanussi we have now (which is a fab design, pity it doesn't bloomin work!). He went into a store this morning and bought a Bosch but it won't be delivered until Thursday. Everything going off in the freezer now, I'm using up all the frozen stuff as fast as I can. At least it means I don't have to cook today, completely shattered.

From looking round, it's clear (at least to me) that many brands are ok for separate fridges & freezers but reliability a problem for combined ones and Miele, Bosch, Siemens, Liebherr, AEG more reliable brands for them. Zanussi is a v.good brand but seem to have a problem with compressors for fridge freezers. Just thought I would post this in case anyone else searching for info at a later date!

You could look for deals at Comet's clearance auction site. We got a good deal on a Bosch fridge-freezer.
