When I was on night duty I used a black bin bag over the window, certainly a cheap and cheerful option

Tin foil also works well apparently. I've not tried it though.

I've got 2 metres of blackout lining that I bought from a fabric store, and coupled with a pair of bull-dog clips, some masking tape and a bundle of clothes pegs it has blacked out the morning sun's evil rays in many a holiday home!

I haven't got this personally although I shall be getting it shortly but have read rave reviews about it on here.

baa baa black out blind

I have in the past pegged a dark blanket to the curtains but the baa baa goes onto either the window or the upvc frame.
