I need a new one. I liked the idea of a Hotpoint, never had one before, but I now hear that Hotpoint are part of the same company as Indesit who I've heard aren't that great. So which makes should I be looking at?

We've got a zanussi and I think it's great. Never thought much before about a spin rating but this one is rated A+ and it's amazing the difference it makes. Clothes dry much quicker now. which is good because the tumble is buggered

We've got on ok with Hoover washer/driers. I've avoided Hotpoint since they were on watchdog years ago.

I had this Bosch delivered yesterday and so far I've done at least 7 loads of washing (had quite a backlog to clear ) and I'm really pleased with it. The repair man who declared our last one (well-used Zanussi) beyond repair recommended Bosch. The Boots website has the best price too,at least £49 cheaper than Currys etc.

This site is good for advice too. UK Whitegoods

I did quite a bit of reading up on this when we got a new washing machine a few months ago. From what I read the best ones are Bosch and AEG (and Miele although they are v expensive). I read that its better to pay for a basic model made by a better and slightly more expensive brand, than paying for lots of clever extra bits on a cheaper brand machine (e.g. Indesit).

We got a Bosch one in the end and its been great so far (touch wood!)

Get a miele, I will obne day when I'm rich... Miele all the way, or bosch

Got the same Bosch as snorris.

Had it for about 3 months and love it.

Good spin, good short cycle (mixed wash, 30 degrees, 44 minutes)

Has a freshen up/rinse cycle (19 minutes)

Delay timer very useful.

Ive had a bosch for about 2 years and I really HATE it. Can't wait until it finally breaks so I can get a new one.

It is constantly getting grey stuff around the drum, that just won't shift. I put it on hot washes and it's still always there.

Always if one of the kids moves the knob while it going, you have to start it all over again, arrrggghhhhh. (although this may apply to other machines also)

I really would like an aqualtis.

I got a new one recently from John Lewis. They are made by AEG/Zanussi/Electrolux apparently. They were rated highly in Which? a few months ago.

I am really pleased with it, good results and efficient and not a bad price (£299 and free delivery)
