New car - two children and a dog - what shall I get

We are getting a puppy on Monday - labrador, and we therefore need to change our car, or buy a second car (unlikely we will keep the current car). We currently have a large saloon.

As the dog is likely to travel by cage I need something large. We have two children (4 and 2). We were thinking of an estate, but as the cage may take up most of the boot, we are considering an MPV. Max budget is £10K but ideally we would like to spend less - we would not buy anything new.

What do people suggest? Thanks for your suggestions!

We have a Vauxhall Vectra estate- and love it! Lots of room in the boot for the dog (we have a lab/spaniel cross) plus ample room for all passengers. Very comfortable on long distances too. There are a few newish secondhand ones available- we bought ours at 2.5yrs old for £6.6k 18 months ago.
