Please can someone help us with our TomTom Sat Nav, before dh and I murder one another!! We bought a new Tom Tom yesterday (are sat nav virgins) and dh is having an awful time trying to get the thing going. It won't let him register/log in and we're going round in circles. We urgently need to download maps for the USA today, as we're going away tomorrow to California.

Also, we can't get the sticker thing to stick to the windscreen and thirdly, the holder doesn't seem to rotate on its ball thingy, so the screen faces either skywards or to the ground. Pleeeease help asap!

LOL! And you thought life in Nigeria was going to be complicated .

Hehe! I don't have to navigate there - that's our driver's job, lol.

Ok, dh has managed to set up and account. I spotted that the TomTom page isn't all visible on the laptop screen and managed to get that bit done by clicking on a weeny line. Have now purchased a map of the US but dh is struggling to put it onto the device.

I have to say, the instructions that came with the thing are appalling. No words, just diagrams that don't tell you what you're looking at.

Give it to DD2 to sort out. I find that anything technologically challenging to me is instantly understood by the boys without reference to any instructions.

Dh ended up returning it as it appeared to be faulty. Got our money back but have lost the £30 spent on maps. Dh is trying to buy another one today but Scotland seems to be Sat Nav-less, apart from one older version in Comet. That, at least, has the US already on it, so I await his return from his shopping foray with interest.

I downloaded a map of the US last year. I had thought that the easiest way would be to download straight onto the memory chip as we have a slot in our PC. However, that didn't work, as it the TomTom had to be connected to the PC and the map downloaded directly.

When we arrived in the US, we discovered there was no voice - which isn't advisable when you are trying to navigate Boston. Fortunately, I had my lappy with me, and was able to download the voice later.

We couldn't download the USA map as there wasn't enough memory for it on the Tomtom. Why do they flog maps if you can't download them??

Anyway, we picked up a TomTom with the US ready loaded at T5 Heathrow and so far it's done what is says on the box. We got from San Fran to Napa Valley without any arguments!
