Wary · 01/07/2008 22:38

PeaMclean - thank you yes thats the design of the sofa

what does everyone think??

OP posts:
PeaMcLean · 01/07/2008 22:39

It's called Robin Day???!!! Makes me think 1980s and big glasses...

Doesn't look especially comfy, but then i don't like leather sofas. Call me odd though.

Wary · 01/07/2008 22:40

leather is goood - wipeable IYKWIM

OP posts:
Aitch · 01/07/2008 22:40

it's a design classic, won't date. although it's a bit architecty for me personally.

harpomarx · 01/07/2008 22:44

don't like leather sofas unless they're big and squishy or all worn in. That looks uncomfy and sterile. And I think you're right, it will date.

Wary · 01/07/2008 22:45

but does anyone think its a classic, in a retro kind of way?? or am i too tired to think straight?

OP posts:
harpomarx · 01/07/2008 22:48

hang on, just seen you said you wanted it in cream. That sounds a lot better

psychologically, cream would make it comfier for me!

Wary · 01/07/2008 22:51

how funny that cream would make a difference!

OP posts:
Aitch · 01/07/2008 22:52

it is a design classic. designed by robin day etc etc. has been around for years.

harpomarx · 01/07/2008 22:52

I am very shallow

Tinker · 01/07/2008 22:53

Not sure it would date but you would need a particular type of house, I think

Wary · 01/07/2008 22:53

dare i ask - who is robin day?? am i supposed to know?

OP posts:
Tinker · 01/07/2008 22:53

Robin Day designed it?

harpomarx · 01/07/2008 22:56

some info on Robin Day and your sofa

and the writer agrees about the cream. The dark one is too architecty, as Aitch put it.

newgirl · 01/07/2008 22:58

No - the wood on the side is the problem - too piney

habitat do nice ones in grey fabric that might be better?

PeaMcLean · 01/07/2008 22:59

Robin Day was a journalist on the telly. Newsy programmes in the 70s. Can't reemmber what exactly. Huuuuge glasses though.

Tinker · 01/07/2008 22:59

Yeah, but this is a differnet one surely???

Wary · 01/07/2008 23:01

not keen on grey fabric - has to wipeable - have small kids - will drop food and vomit etc etc

OP posts:
LobstersLass · 01/07/2008 23:01

I think it already looks dated.

Aitch · 01/07/2008 23:02

lol, not that robin day.
