Bike 20" wheel no gears verses 24" wheel with gears

Dd 7 has got a 20" wheel bike at the moment that I got her last year. She has shot up and and the seat is quite hight but needs to go up again. Took her to halfords to get her a new helmet. We took a look at the 24" wheeled bike that looked huge but when dd tried it I was shocked that she was ready for that size.
The only thing problem there is 15 gears and is 7 a little young for gears.
Do I stick with her 20" wheel bike or is it worth thinking about getting the next size up and she will learn to master the gears.

7 is good age to start gears, generally. You can always put it into a middle gear to start with. Bigger wheels means going faster further with less effort, so still a progression even if she only uses one gear for a while.
