Kitchen Companies

DH has got the arse with MFI because when he rang they said they would "get someone to call us back with an appointment within 48 hours" then got the complete farking runaround when we tried to talk to someone sooner.

We only want to talk to someone to get a rough plan, perhaps buy some units but get a builder to install it for us. MFI didn't know this of course.

Anyone know any other decent kitchen providers? The fact that we were approaching MFI in the first place reveals that we haven't got a huge amount of brass to spend so can't go for the real flash companies.

I don't know what they're like but Ikea do kitchens. They had an online planner thing too, I'll see if I can find it.

I don't know how good it is but it might help

Whateever you do, don't go to Moben! Total nightmare from start to "finish".

B&Q and Homebase both offer a kitchen design service, we used them to get a design then hired a fitter who got the units much cheaper from Howdens

We used Wickes - you can walk into the store and they "design" it with you there on the computer (you obviously have to have all the dimensions with you!). You do need to organise your own fitter though (or they can give you a list of local fitters you can get quotes from) - we were having an extension so just used our builders for that.

Second the Howdens option. Apparently they do similar/the same unit designs as the big DIY places but at trade prices (so get your fitter to buy for you). Just had an MFI kitchen put in and we ended up doing most of the 'design' ourselves. The salesman just filled the room with units, no particular thought to good layout etc. so your own ideas are probably best anyway!

Thanks for all those recommendations, guys. Will give them a try.
