one of these? Are they as brilliant as their massive price tag would indicate??

Thanks!

no idea, but you do double-take when you see them in RL. we saw one in the park yesterday and DD thought it was hilarious. 'Look at that funny buggy!'
the bloke pushing it went magenta.

charleypops · 30/01/2005 12:12

Poor bloke!

My silly mummy gut instinct is that the baby is too high off the ground and a bit exposed. A bit like a toddler sitting on a bar stool. I'm sure the baby wouldn't fall out though.... would they?!

charleypops · 30/01/2005 12:22

I'm off to John Lewis now, I think they have some so I'll report back!

Have seen a few, NO room for shopping, maybe one nappy and a few wipes. Guess what my priorities are?

edam · 30/01/2005 15:51

Did you see the pics of Russell Crowe strugging to unfold his?
I saw them at a press preview ? they put on a ballet with dancers using the buggies. They aren't as heavy as you'd expect but agree re v. little room for shopping. Thought they were interesting, but wouldn't spend that much myself. Unless I had oodles of cash and then it would be a traditional Silver Cross pram we could hand down...

Moomina · 30/01/2005 15:52

Agree with beansprout - can't get over the feeling that it would be like pushing a baby around on a bar stool Tbh I think they look ridiculous and with very young babies they look so flimsy - give me a nice sturdy M&P anytime!

jane313 · 30/01/2005 15:55

Yes teh shopping basket was pathetic. I think gracs win hands down in that department. I wish I had got one of those.

The thing I thought looked good about them is that you you could use them as a high chair in restaurants (we had a nightmare break in Belgium where we ended up eating in department stores and MacDonalds as there were no highchairs and my son would never sit nicely on my lap). I also liked the fact that the 4 wheels could go into 2 and it was thus a bit easier to take them up and down steps which would make the tube easier. That said I only spend £70 on my pushchair and I can never understand those people who spend so much on one. Someone I met got one of those bug a boo ones for £700 and the child can only be flat or completely upright (they have different seats) and I love the way my cheapy one is adjutstable.

aloha · 30/01/2005 16:07

I really, really like the idea of the baby being higher up. I like the fact that you can make eye contact and talk to your child and that they have a more interesting view of the world.

misdee · 30/01/2005 16:08

also stops people tripping over your baby. this has happened with dd2 in her maclaren loads, people walk into her. she does kick them back tho!

misdee · 30/01/2005 16:08

i'd like to trial one, but probably wouldnt buy one (dh would kill me!!)

sparklymieow · 30/01/2005 16:23

mothercare has them, I think they are horrid (sorry if anyone has one)

charleypops · 30/01/2005 16:25

John Lewis didn't have any, so I still haven't seen one "in the flesh", it does seem to tick a lot of boxes, not sure about the wheels though. Had a go with a Bugaboo, which seems ok, if a bit fiddly. Like jane313 though, I don't like the fact the upright seat isn't adjustable. Wheels look good though for off-roading (with dog) though and it's not a big as a Jane for instance....Oh, I Just Don't Know. I simply want something that will last from birth to 3 which is good on rough terrain and good round town...

By the way, I counted 12 Bugaboos in Kingston today!!!

e3 expolorer............

jane313 · 30/01/2005 16:28

Mine was cheap and has been on loads of rough terrain, parks, beaches, woods etc. It has supsension in the wheels. I really don't think you need to buy anything that special. Unless you have loads of money burning a hole in your pocket that is!

misdee · 30/01/2005 16:29

gppd cheaper, robust 3 wheeler, is mothercare urban detours. loved mine.

charleypops · 30/01/2005 16:31

Misdee, I don't know many kids (yet), but I met up with a MNer last weekend and I was amazed at how many people nearly walked into her buggy (containing her 20 month old) .

MIL's just got an unexpected windfall pension thingy and says she'll treat to whichever pushchair we want!

OP posts:
misdee · 30/01/2005 16:35

thats why i prefer larger prams to my stroller sometimes.

try the e3 explorer then!!

are you planning on more kids after this one? cos you can make it into a double.

charleypops · 30/01/2005 16:56

Oh, misdee, you've got me thinking about 3 wheelers again now! I had a surf round for the Explorer and came up with all these sigh...

I must say, the E3 Explorer is great if you're planning a couple of kids. I would love more than 1, so this would be a perfect option. It must be such a dilemma pushchair-wise if you have a second baby before the first can walk much.

OP posts:
misdee · 30/01/2005 16:58

i was not gonna bother with the e3, but dd2 is only 2.5 and cant walk that far yet. theres no way i'd be able to do the walk to school with her.

and even tho she is massive for her age she fits in it easily.

btw, link not working.

charleypops · 30/01/2005 17:03

Oops - this is the right one!

I always think that Bugaboo Frogs don't look that comfy for the child, the seat doesn't look very deep. Also think they are for fashion victims with too much money but that's another thread 10 a penny round here, yawn!

misdee · 30/01/2005 18:28

same here davros. i dont see the appeal of the bugaboo, it looks odd. and looks very small in real life as well.
