Boots price difference

I sent my husband a link to some hair straighteners on Boots for my birthday. I have since realised he bought them in store instead and instead of paying £25 he’s paid £80! Any way of resolving this? I’ve literally only just opened the box today.

Take them back?

I’ve opened the original purchase. Still have box and all packaging.

I’ll probably be shouted down for dishonesty but if the online offer still stands order a pair and then take the unopened pair back to Boots with the original store receipt.

Boots do a lot of online offers which aren’t applied in store, you’d think they’d want to encourage people to use their high street stores by making the same offers available there too.

Well I’ve thought about this. Wasn’t sure if they would know it was an online purchase or not. I can’t believe the difference in price! I only saw them off chance today when getting a prescription and asked him how much he’d paid 😂.

Next would catch you out on previous poster's scam idea, as everything is individually coded, but you'd get away with it with Boots. Go for it, they are taking the piss.

Ive done this , not at Boots but with a coat I bought somewhere. Was a £40 difference.

it’s annoying. I just bought a handbag in store from tk maxx and have now seen it £20 cheaper online with tk maxx. But by the time I’ve paid for postage I’d only be saving £15 and I’d also have the hassle of driving to town and taking one back so am going to suck it up.

I’d do that too, like someone says it would not work with every shop. It really annoys me that Boots do this though. I looked at the weekend before I went to,see if they sold a specific thing, they did so I went and when I got there it was a completely different price.

I don’t think I’d call this a “scam”. The bigger scam is charging an extra £55 for something in store! No wonder the high street is struggling!

Boots are a nightmare for changing prices daily. So make sure the offer is still on.
But yes I'd buy the online ones and return them to the shop.
