Hi we bought a samsonite travel cot assuming we could use it until he is 2 but at 11 months he just stands up and tips it over and over like a hamster in a wheel. So have decide to fork out for another travel and would love to know which are the best on the market at the moment

Thats dreadful that it would do that to your lo patty

We loved ours and had no problems - mine never slept in it though we just it for containment purposes! I think ours was a little tykes one

I think you ought to complain about yours tbh

We have a Graco Travel cot and a mothercare own brand one that we keep at the in laws - both reasonably cheap and work well. At the age of 11mths DS certainly couldn't tip them over.

However, now at the age of 2, he is a thrasher and when he last used the cot, he was stood up and rocking it foward, but it didn't tip right over, it just went back into standing position. To be on the safe side, we placed it with a wall behind him and a bed in front so that if he did tip, it wouldn't fall right over iyswim? I think it does get to a point where travel cots are no longer suitable for them but agree that at 11mths, it should not have tipped over like that!!!

Another tip - they have the cots actually assembled in mothercare - take your DS in with no shoes on and pop him in there to see how he goes with it - worth a try! We did that with DS and the Mothercare one and he liked it so much, he cried when we took him out! lol!

is the samsonite one the pop up one? i thought it was only for small babies? any of the 'traditional' ones would be grand for this age. if you have nct sales near you there are often a selection for £12 ish. i bought mine from boots website and by total fluke it is a longer model which means that ds didn't grom out of it as quickly as (eg) the v cheap small graco one.

i got a mothercare own brand one with a detachable basonette for a newborn. My ds1 used it (with out the newborn bit attached!) up to the age of two and i then used it in the front room for my newborn ds2 (with bassonette). This gave me peice of mind that ds2 was "safe" when i wasnt in the room!
