Plus size girls uniform

Hi all,

I'm struggling to find school skirts that fit my 8 year old DD.

For information she's average height, mixed race and has a big bum.

I decided to order the plus fit skirts from George age 11-12 and we couldn't even pull them up over her bum, so they were returned. If we go for bigger sizes I think they will come up too long.

She's adamant she wants a skirt and not a pinafore this year. They need to be grey with pleats or no pleats and have an extremely elasticated waist band.

I had a look on the M&S website but the reviews seemed to suggest that the plus fit wasn't much bigger than the usual sizes.

Has anybody successfully found any plus size uniform suppliers? Or could recommended anywhere else.

What has being mixed race got to do with anything?

Try Geoege Asda or F&F. Also your local school uniform suppliers. However standard uniform they supply is usually one length You may need to buy bigger and just get the skirt adjusted at a tailor if you are really stuck

Can you buy the jersey skirts that George etc do?

They are fuller so should be better fitting

I’d look at Trutex and John Lewis. Might also be worth looking for wrap around skirts so they don’t need to be pulled up over her bum.

I have these for my daughter. They have an elastic band at the back and inside buttons to adjust the waist. They are also naturally a bit longer so perhaps they'd cover her bum. Otherwise you might want to look at "skater" type skirts that are wider fit.

M&S do longer length skirts, and extra long length. So you can buy what fits her found the waist…. And shouldn’t be too short.
