my son has an ikea bed, i got a new mattress and its shorter than the bed so be warned.

MarkStretch · 26/06/2008 17:14

I think so. I I have two friends who have bought Ikea beds recently and a normal mattress is a couple of inches too narrow.

OracleInaCoracle · 26/06/2008 17:23

thanks, do you think a normal double mattress would do for a couple of weeks?

Hi, well I used dd's old mattress on new ikea frame and bought a new non-ikea memory foam mattress for our ikea bedframe and both fit perfectly!

OracleInaCoracle · 26/06/2008 17:33

thanks lizzer, was it a standard 4'6" by 6'3 mattress?

Ikea beds are longer than the usual beds you buy so you probably will!

OracleInaCoracle · 26/06/2008 17:58

really? bugger!

Check the size of your mattress and compare it with what the mattress sizes are on the Ikea website. We had an ikea bed and mattress, then got a new bed and it f*cked the mattress up somehow so I think they are slightly odd shaped.

OracleInaCoracle · 26/06/2008 18:03

good idea.

Sorry LL, just got back to your Q-was deffo a standard (super king size though, we're big buggers ) but yeah measure yours and then you'll know. I think there was a 1 or 2 cm discrepancy (sp?) in sizes but that made no difference whatsoever...

Oh yeah in fact we did all the measuring of ikea stuff vs our mattresses online before we went, here!

thank you. think we shall just get the bed and if we need to get a new mattress we can make do for a few weeks then freecycle the old one!
