Fashionable jewellery that doesn’t tarnish

I’m looking to buy a necklace as a special birthday present. I’m thinking something more fashionable than a classic style, eg a chunky chain/slim chain stack.

however, my budget is c£400 so I’ll not be able to get anything solid gold. But I worry anything plated will tarnish. I’ll be miffed if I spend £400 on a necklace and it tarnishes within a year!

Any brand recommendations? Or am I looking for the impossible…?

thanks

Oliver bonas’s gold plated selection is surprisingly good.

I bought a lovely heavy plated brass Albert chain from neckontheline and I’ve just ordered another to stack , it’s reassuringly heavy. I don’t wear it in bed or intentionally get it wet but it’s held up well to plenty of wear , perfumes, cosmetics , self tan etc
It’s only £60 so as I’m typing this I’m realising your after something a bit nicer .
The £500 plated brass I’m looking at online doesn’t look any nicer than mine though .
Following with interest .

Look at Liberty’s online jewellery section - I am currently looking at Dinny Hall’s solid gold emerald pip necklace for £300. I wear the folded hearts bracelet every day and I’m pretty sure it was less than £200 for solid gold. Astrid & Miyu does nice gold vermeil jewellery- I haven’t had any pieces tarnish yet but I don’t wear them every day.

I’ve just had some jewellery cleaned professionally. £20 for three pieces and they look like new. Worth it to do every 5 years or so?
