Currently have a Bebeconfort Axiss which is fab.

Planning to buy a cheapish car seat to take with us on holidays which would be put in grandparents car on our return. Would prefer cheapish then its not the end of the world if it comes back a bit dented.

I know you can hire them but not too happy about that...what if its been in an accident? what if we get there and they shrug shoulders and say "sorry" in an italian accent, "we havent got one!"

Please point me in the right direction!

Your message fills me with horror. Please buy a safe seat, not a cheap seat, and do not use it if it is dented in any way. It is really dangerous!

Orchide · 24/06/2008 22:23

MrsAki -the 'slightly dented' was not intended to be taken literally!!!!

Obviously my childs safety is most important to me, which is the main reason why I am not hiring a car seat in a foreign country.

I said cheap 'ish' which is very different from cheap.....if i was going for cheap i wouldnt have asked for recommendations would simply have bought the cheapest i could find.

What's a "cheapish" budget?

You can get the Maxicosi Priori from kiddicare for £100 or the Britax Renaissance one for £100 too

naomi83 · 25/06/2008 06:54

go for the britax 123, its not cheap (around 100 pounds) but lasts till you don't need a car seat anymore, so you save oyurself money buying a boster after, and its one of the safest on the market. i've also seen a very cheap car seat (narnia?) on kiddicare.com that apparetly has great reveiws

I have 6 Nania seats of various ages ( I am a CM, I don't belong to the larger family section ) They have been great, I bought them as they had good reviews, and I had to buy all 6 at one go when I passed my driving test, so had to buy what I could afford, 3 years on they are all still fine.

I have 3 of these

and 3 of these

the solofix carseat from argos is a good spare seat for £35

Orchide · 25/06/2008 21:01

The one we have was abotu 180, would prefer not to spend that again!
£100 would be maximum i think.

Thanks all for recommendations, will have a look.
