Vintage Mulberry Bag

I bought this today because it seemed so reminiscent of Mulberry bags I remember. I have had a Google though and can't find anything with braided handles. It's quite small. It smells of leather. Wondering what people think. I have the receipt and can return... Thanks!

I’m not an expert but it doesn’t look quite right to me. The font on the metal disc doesn’t look right. Also, I’m not sure whether it’s just the way it looks on your photos, but the leafs of the trees both on the disc and on both the embossed parts look too close together

happy for someone with more knowledge to come and tell me I’m wrong.

where did you buy it, and did they claim it to be genuine?

I don’t think the spacing or pattern of the leaves on the tree are genuine Mulberry.

Also, on the gold embossed part, the “y” is quite curled under the “r”, much more than on the Mulberry website. The kerning in “made in England” also looks a little off, but that might just be the angle of the photo.

How is the stitching? Is it neat and regular all around?

Google lens tells me your bad is a vintage Mulberry Hellier tote bag. What it can't tell me is if it is a fake version.

I have continued to look and there do seem to be some larger bags from the 90s with braided handles... I might take to a shop to see what they say.

To update: I took it into Mulberry today and they said it was authentic. So that's good.
