Tesco marketplace, more like farce place!

Tesco Marketplace, a warning to anyone thinking of using it, AVOID! Ordered an item on Friday, advised by tesco that it would be delivered latest Sunday (needed urgently and stupidly assumed this would actually be the case). Still not had word from the seller that it has even been picked let alone packed! Attempted to email seller, no response for 48 hours now. Decided to email seller to cancel order, no response, tried landline for this seller, inactive. Tesco provide a mobile number for the seller, asked to say what my call was about via automated message, said to cancel order, surprise surprise, seller wouldn’t take my call! Am now trying to WhatsApp tesco to sort, wish me luck, I will so need it! NEVER AGAIN, first time and last time, what a joke.

Thats what Amazon is for

So many items, heretofore from Tesco supermarket seem to only be available from marketplace now...I've noticed regular items like binbags, foil etc.. you are automatically redirected to tesco marketplace

DION62 · 22/06/2026 15:59

Too right, and I didn’t realise until much later that this was a market place item and couldn’t be cancelled. Contacted them today but they were so useless! They sent an email AGAIN saying that the item would be delivered last Saturday or Sunday! Derrr! Yes, bin bags, a lot of things you used to be able to order for home delivery, simple everyday items that people need and don’t want to wait several days for! Last week my grocery order turned up 4 hours late and half of the items were missing, all the chilled and frozen. No apology from Tesco, totally useless now, just interested in their profits.

I get all these bits and pieces from Amazon and they mostly come next day. You can order a few and they mostly come in one package to save on waste. If its something you use regularly Amazon save and subscribe allows you to make a bundle of stuff that you need monthly - such as vitamins, medications, etc. You can skip a whole delivery or individual items if you dont want them that month.

Useful to know, thank you

You used to be able to filter out marketplace items on the app but I think that’s changed recently too

EveryKneeShallBow · 22/06/2026 19:41

Never used marketplace but I have had an awful time with Morrisons. Twice they emailed me on the morning of a delivery that they were running late and then cancelled altogether. Mind you, I’ve also been sent two or three of an item and not been charged so their shitness affects them as much as me.

JohnnieFedora · 22/06/2026 21:09

I've never even heard of this before now!

It has and it really fucks me off! I've got no interest in Marketplace stuff when I'm trying to do my weekly grocery shop. I just want to see things that can be delivered as part of that.
And yeah they are definitely reducing their in store range and trying to force you to use Marketplace. I tried to add a door wedge to my order earlier and there were only Marketplace ones available. I've defo had one from there before

DION62 · 23/06/2026 07:27

So much reducing of the store range, trying to get you to use their so called ‘partners’. I have written to the CEO, not that I am delusional and expecting a considered response at all, just to let him know how much this is so rubbish and non customer focused. Never thought I would say this but eBay are far better by miles than Market Farce Place, at least for one thing they take responsibility for the sellers on their platform and sort out your problem. Tesco washed their hands of me and my problem stating there was nothing they could do about it! Thanks a lot.

This is an issue with The Range too and probably others.
Marketplace is code for we take no responsibility and you will be totally stuffed if you need any customer service.

😂😂, soooo very true

On another note, I'm disappointed that Tesco have taken away the 'list of items', where you typed in your shopping list, then clicked through it...now you have to search each item individually. Not a huge thing, admittedly, but it was useful, and now it's gone.
