next door have a toyota prius -Admittedly 2 are under 4 adn one over 4.

I have a 4year old, a 2 year old and a one year old and they all sit nicely in three big ol' car seats in a VW Touran. The good thing is that we have another two seats in the boot if we need an emergency seat but otherwise have a nice big boot for the buggy etc. It is a nice car to drive as well.

is the vw touran the same chassis as a ford galaxy or a seat something?

Bronze · 24/06/2008 12:10

At the moment its an audi estate. Dhs', I dont drive and one of ours is five now but its still carseats all round.

Kayran · 24/06/2008 12:29

hmm have no idea about chassis. It is not as long and it is less bus like that a galaxy. It is more like the zafira. when we bought it the zafira came top for budget and the vw top if budget was not so essential. I think they are both much of a muchness in terms of utility - we just like VW's. It is handy having the seats for the rare occassions (birthday party drop offs spring to mind) but not being tied to a really large car. also when we bought ours you could not get second hand as the range was new wheras now you can and so that makes them more economical.

agree about the Touran (dh's work car). It' s a good car. We'll be using it when we have three children under five.

kayran only asking as usually the vw have sister cars (like the polo is akin to the skoda fabia etc). I have vw too as like fact you can run em into the ground

allytjd · 24/06/2008 12:36

We have fiat multipla, three full seats in back with proper seat belts and spare seat in front, useful if my three are fighting and need separated, or for extra granny or friend.

ChopsTheDuck · 24/06/2008 12:41

our mondeo fits three car seats across the back.

Kayran · 24/06/2008 12:53

My first car was a VW polo - I loved her and i did in fact run her until the engine blew up - ahh happy memories! We had a Scenic before the VW which we liked until it was squashed in an RTA by a lorry (horror story) We probably would have got another but they changed the shape of the boot and hence we got the VW. Only downside with the Touran is that everything is very basic i.e. cd player with manual knobs only et). You have to 'add' to get most things. Mind you the warm seats in winter are very very lovely!

Citreon Picasso, three full seats in the back and loads of room in the boot for double buggy. We have a diesel one and it is pretty cheap to run.
