Anyone got a new style Golf?

Currently looking at the R32.

Have had a couple of Golf GTi in past but think style has changed even since last one.

And I can't remember what the back seat space is like. In terms of car seats what is it like for fitting different configurations across the back?

Thanks.

had one, very good. more room now than older ones - longer wheel base i think.
I've struggled getting a upright toddler seat and 2 boosters in though. do you need 3 in the back?

TheCoderator · 24/06/2008 15:16

lolol

Hey Cod - I have this Smart car for nearly 3 years nowyou know - well, almost. And I ahte it - with a passion. I want a nice new car again [grin}

Thanks popmum. I actually only have one child of my own - who is in a booster with back.

However on a Monday I have 3 in the car - baby who will be in 2nd stage seat, plus 2 6 years olds - so 2 boosters with or without backs. And on a Friday I have 3 children - 1 in booster with back, and then 2 boosters with or without backs.

TBH I don't mind utting one in front for the short journey, but would be nice to be able to fit 3 in back if possible - or at least 2 seats, plus adult between them in back - so can go out with friend in one car.

We looked at a Golf Plus a couple of years back and even that would n't take 3 boosters across, middle is too narrow.

Hulababy · 24/06/2008 15:35

Might have to make do with putting one in front then.

I am sure when we had last one we managed two car seats in back, plus an adult in middle.

We have an 06 gold TDI - it is great and we have got 3 seats across the back on more than one occasion - DH bought it as he likes german cars.

Twinkie1 · 24/06/2008 15:37

Sorry Golf - it is black - not gold - would kill any street cred I had left!

Egg · 24/06/2008 15:39

In our golf (reg 55, so is coming up for 3 years old), we cannot fit two stage 0 car seats and one stage 1 car seat (think big one is stage 1, it is maxi cosi cabriofix for age 9 months to 4 yrs thingy). Baby seats are Jané rebel ones so quite small compared to some I think. Anyway, we have to put one baby in the front and disable the airbag.

Would like to add that we are in the process of getting an s-max that does fit all three in a row so it means we can all go out together without me wedged in the back with two sprogs.

Egg · 24/06/2008 15:39

Forgot to say, ours is a TDI also.

Hulababy · 24/06/2008 15:40

Hmmm - so maybe 3 boosters may fit across back then? Just might not be possible for the Monday config - so DD or friend will just have to ride up front, like they do now.

Hulababy · 24/06/2008 15:55

LOL Cod - I know, but I really have a car I don't like at the moment. We just have a set price that we are prepared to pay for the two cars - so update as and when. Just puttig budget up a bit now though as finances allow, and we can upgrade, esp as DH's company now pay for insurance, tax, petrol, etc.

Hulababy · 24/06/2008 16:03

LOL Cod - you'll love this but:

DH just called 2 minutes ago. Possibility we may also trade in his car and get a Mercedes B Class as well, all for same money as we pay for his little Aygo too. Cool - two new cars

Now need to look at selling my Smart. The Aygo isn;t a problem as that can just go back, no more to pay. Smart needs either selling privately or to a local dealership. Best stop slagging it off so much now!
